We Make Every Moment Matter

Silver Club Memory Programs is part of Community Health Services, with programs provided at the Turner Senior Resource Center.

Silver Club Memory Programs promises a safe, stimulating environment for older adults with mild to moderate memory loss to participate in activities (music, art, fitness and more!), share stories, and have fun. Established in 1998, the Silver Club’s unique approach offers caregivers the opportunity to recharge while their loved one enjoys participating in music programs, creating art, socializing with friends, and engaging in other stimulating activities.

  • Staff and volunteers join with members to create a community where people with memory loss can make friends, share joys and fears, and participate in fun and meaningful activities.
  • Professionally trained staff members come from a variety of backgrounds including social work, fine arts, music and recreation therapy.
  • Participants do not need to be a U-M Health patient
  • Cost is based on ability to pay

For Mild Memory Loss

The activities offered in these programs range from education about living well with memory loss to learning coping strategies, topical discussions and exploring the expressive arts. Each of the mild memory loss programs provides members with an opportunity to meet with others and keep their minds and bodies active.

Mind Works

This weekly educational group provides a safe, positive, strength-based environment which allows participants to learn, share, and engage together. Based on camaraderie, mental exercise, memory techniques, humor, and community engagement, this weekly group hopes to meet the unique needs of individuals who are newly diagnosed with cognitive change.

Elderberry Club

Members of the Elderberry Club smile for a photo

The first of its kind in Michigan, designed exclusively for women with memory loss! This is a group of women living with memory loss who come together each week for support, discussion, friendship, creative expression and education. The Elderberry Club is as lively and warm as the women involved. Since the programs’ inception in 2011, the group members have had two art shows, published collective poetry, and were featured on a UM-podcast series for their work. They want to be heard and uplift other women who may be isolated and living with memory loss.

For Moderate Memory Loss

Silver Club Day Enrichment Program

Silver Club Day Enrichment Program is for individuals with moderate memory loss. It is a structured, activity-based program that meets daily from 10 am – 3 pm. Staff, volunteers and students strive to ensure that Silver Club members have fun, make friends and feel part of a community. We understand that many people with dementia no longer feel useful; part of our mission is to help people feel that they can still take part in meaningful activities and succeed. We spend time learning about members’ areas of strength and the areas where they need additional support. Activities include daily fitness, family style lunch, music, gardening, cooking, small discussion groups, art and craft projects, photography, adapted card games and visits from community performers.

Monday-Friday 10 am - 3:30 pm (Includes lunch)
